Love Letter in the Drawer

Hi Mary Jie
Hearing Evonne's love letter to her Wai Po, made me have the urge to write this to my Wai Po who left us since 27 January 2010 at 4am. Apologise for writing in English instead of Chinese and thanks for spending time to translate.

I still remember when young, Wai Po always will sewed each of us(grandchildren) pyjamas. The cloth will be choosen by us. We will follow her go market to choose the cloth with bears. She will spend her morning everyday sewing for us. But as time goes by, we already not getting her to sew for us. We will buy those ready made. Now if can choose again, I would like to wear those that she sewed for us.

My Wai Po was a great cook too. I remember she will always ask me drink more soups whenever I visited her on Sunday. I guess she is looking forward for every Sunday to arrive. As we will spend whole afternoon with her, hear her talk past stories and see her sewed pyjamas. Ever since she had stroke, I never get to taste her soups. Now whenever I stop by soup stalls, I will remember her soup taste and every time she would asked me to have 2nd and even 3rd bowls. I guess it was all Cantonese's favourites to cook soups for all meals.

I still remember when I first came in contact with what senile means was when she left the house one day and went missing for days. She was later found by police at Chinatown when they spotted her loitering outside with no identification documents. As police reports were made and photo of hers was being sent to islandwide police station, hence it made locating us easier. When we learnt of this, it was already 2nd day of her missing. We were all relieved when we heard she was already found unhurt. I even wished I am able to went out and find her myself.

We all thought she was only senile and did not knew later she will have stroke twice which made her lost her sight, hearing and speaking. She was being transfered to medical centre after her first stroke. We will visit her every Sunday. Although we knew no matter how we tried, she can never hear us, see us and even speak to us after her second stroke. Seeing her with tube inserted to her nose for feeding, I cried. Can I ask for a healthy Wai Po again? Can I ask her cook for me soups, made me pyjamas? Can I?

Few months ago, she was hospitalised due to fever and breathing difficulties. Later we were told that all her organs were spoilt and she needs to put on oxygen masks if we want her to live. Once the tube was removed, she will be gasping for air. The last Sunday when we visited her, she was breathing very hard. At that moment, my mum and I knew her days were numbered. She was lying at the bed for 11years till 27 January 2010, 4am, she had fever and passed away in her sleep. So peaceful yet so sudden. It was 4 days before my birthday and 1 day before my uncle's. It all happened too sudden that I wish it was all dreams.

The reason why I writing this letter is to tell my Wai Po this:
"Wai Po, althought you left us suddenly, we are still learning how to cope with your lost. Remember 30th January 2010, 10am, you were pushed to be cremented. We all cried. I know you do not wish we be sad over your departure. I also promise you to get over it soon. I will and will live happily under your protection. I cannot call you back to life. So I shall live for your love, care and concern. No matter what, you will always be in my heart. Never will I forget you, your pyjamas and your soup taste. May you be able to reunite with Wai Gong and live happily ever after. If there is next life, I would want to be your granddaughter once again and wear the pyjamas made by you. Drink the soups cooked by you. Wai Po, may you rest in peace"

(Hopefully, when this letter being read out, I will not cry and will feel happy for her to be out of pain and suffering. She was having good life to live till 91 years old with 12 grandchildren sending her off. I will not weeped for her lost anymore. I will be strong and walk out of sorrow. Sincerely thank all those who consoled me during this difficult period.)

My thoughts

Seldom will I update blog during weekdays and seldom will I pen down any thoughts at the point of time. Basically was due to I did not bring my lappy along with me as it is very heavy and my backpack was not good to hold it well.

Recently, I began to bring it along with me to nearby library to use it. Well, I have to say, I love this feeling of staying connected. Can say I am internet slave as I really cannot do without internet. If you ask me be not connected for a month with no internet, I guess I will be bored to death.

These months was hard for me. Coping with my grandmother's death till now I have not really get over. But will try to get over.

Just now heard my love letter to Waipo, I cried. Will she get my love letter, I guess she did. Thanks Mary jie for reading it. She will forever be in my heart.

Still remain jobless. But I will try very hard to get myself employed. Will post the original love letter to Wai Po shortly.

April 2010 Updates (2)

Racking my head what events we have today. Yesh. Its Aunty Lucy appearing at Suntec Hall 401-404. 50 Plus event. Before that was Sembawang Shopping Centre's event. The Great Radio Game Grand Lucky Draw.

The host from Yes933 is Jie(Ivy). Summer won the chance to get the Skodar Roomster 1.6L car. From 3rd till 30th prizes are all shopping vouchers. Comes with $100 and $200 shopping vouchers. 2nd prize is a trip for 4's self driven tour sponsored by Chan Brothers. But all of the listeners are eyeing for the car. The winner is Johnson. So lucky. After the event, I managed to catch Jie, Andy and Huishan (suprised to see her there) for photo taking session. Than we proceed down to City Hall to meet Evonne Jie and catch a bite before meeting Andrew and me meeting PQ Lao gong and KT Darling with Yuru down to support AUNTY LUCY.

I was actually not feeling well. But luckily I can still hang on till end. We went to grab a bite at Breadtalk and than proceed to Suntec. So together with Andrew Papa, Evonne Jie, Summer, PQ Lao Gong, KT Darling and Desmond, we headed down to SUNTEC CONVENTION HALL!!!

Event was 6pm. But we reached at 5pm plus. When Aunty Lucy came on the stage, the audience all crowded around. There was an interview on what was Aunty Lucy's favourite pastime and what she will do during her free time.

She mentioned that she have twitter account and facebook account. She also mentioned that even you are at prime age, you must also be up to date with what is going on nowadays. She took 1 month to learn the Indian dance for Ren Ci Charity. If she can do it, all the rest can also do it. She encouraged all the audience to sign up for courses to upgrade and not to fall for the hand of senile.

She sang Tian Mi Mi and not forgetting to pull some votes for Zhou Chong Qing for the Star Awards. So funny.

Then there were game to compete who is most long breath person. Each she asked them say four or more letter phrases. Than use that phrase to compete who will hold the word for the longest. In the end, one of the auntie won. She hold for 36mins if not wrong. Even the male also lost him by 1min or so. She was really bravo.

After that, the host asked Aunty Lucy to sing one more song as encore song. She sang Tou Tou Mo Mo. The atmosphere was super high. When she was about to go into back stage, we shouted: AUNTY LUCY JIAYOUS.

Once she was back stage and about to leave, there were crowd surrounding her. Hence some of us did not take any pics with her as we will see her tomorrow.

We then left to eat our dinner at the food court some distance away before we end and went back home. What a fun Saturday. Great times we spent together. See you all again tomorrow. Wooohoo.. :D

We meet again today. This round we meet for two events initially but end up there was suprises for us later on.

11am, I am already at MacPherson MRT station. It was soft launch for the 11 circle lines. From Bras Basah to Tai Seng. From 17 April onwards, travelling down to CBD area will be faster and now even if you wish to attend concert, it will be very easy for you as there is a station called STADIUM station. It is directly opposite Indoor Stadium. No more hassle to walk from Kallang MRT station to Indoor Stadium. Great right?

But I am meeting Jianmei, Andrew Papa, Steven, Summer, PQ lao gong, KT darling for lunch at Paya Lebar at 1230. Then meeting Evonne Jie and Xingyu Didi and Alice at Paya Lebar circle line event venue at 1330 to support CQ and Jie(Ivy) for their hosting.

I need to be early as I wish to take pictures with Evelyn, Glenn and Jean Danker. Evelyn was hosting at MacPherson, Glenn was at Paya Lebar and Jean Danker at Esplande.

By the time I reached Esplanade and rushed down to Paya Lebar, it was already 1245. I met Yuru who was waiting for PQ lao gong, KT darling and Jianmei. I am also waiting for Steven Didi and Andrew Papa. End up, Andrew Papa was late. Hence we headed to the foodcourt at SingPost B1 than asked Andrew Papa to meet us there. Summer was late end up she met Min En. After lunch, Evonne Jie called Andrew Papa and she came down to find u. Together, we went to meet up with Summer and Min En. Then we headed down to Circle Line event stage area.

We took some group fans photos before we took some individual photos and then waiting for CQ and Jie to be up on stage to start the event. They also asked questions to give away the free gift. Thanks to Steven Didi. I got the free gift. Before the event start, Uncle D told us that Z want to treat us. We need to decide who is going and who is not. We had mini discussion and decided only a few of us will be going. Thinking of the cost for each pax, we felt heartpain for him. So after the Suntec event, half of the group will proceed with their own activities and the rest will head down to Central.

We rushed down to Central. Had a fun-filled dinner and took some photos. We also received special gift after the dinner. Thanks to Z. What a wonderful Sunday. Thanks to Z. You know who you are. Hahaz.....

Suprisingly, we met again today. This time for a very short 3hours event. It was MONGA gala premier showing at VivoCity GV Cinema. Only lucky winners will get to catch it before anyone else.

There will be special appearance of Ethan Juan, Mark Chao and Dou Dao(the Director). But the whole event which supposed to start at 8pm was delayed due to previous events delayed.

Their plane was delayed when touching down at Singapore. Thereafter, there are some delays during the press conference which leads to the delay in the appearance at Junction 8 which supposed to be 7pm but end up 7.45pm they reached.

All the delays lead to their late appearance at VivoCity. By the time they reached, it was already 9.30pm coming to 9.35pm. They had short and brief description of the movie and also showed the dance for 11plus mins before the hurried off to the theatre hall to catch the movie. The movie screening started at 10pm which means it will end at 12am.

Oh yes, the host for the event is Mary Jie. As usual, we waited for her to end the whole event before we can take individual photos. I would say ETHAN JUAN. MARK CHAO really very handsome in person. It really beats seeing them in the movie or drama especially Ethan. Oh my. How I dream to date a guy like Ethan. But of cause, that was a dream. :D

April 2010 Updates (1)

ITS APRIL FOOL DAY. Also mark of death anniversary for Zhang Guo Rong aka Gege.

Well, I am not mourning for him. But indeed we lost a very talented artist. He could sing and act and even dance. He was so handsome. Too bad, he chose to end his life 7 years ago.

Today was also Car Decal Day @ AMK Avenue 6. It was Jiahui jie giving out the car decal and Banana Milk drink day to all drivers who drive to the carpark. Andrew Papa, Evonne Jie, Desmond and myself met at there to support Jiahui. Its my first time attending Car Decal. So much fun.

After that we went for dinner at S11 for the famous chicken rice. We had some chit chat session. Later we found that there is one secret which was blowing far too big till whole of the person involved and not involved also knew of this. We have to think of a plan to tackle that serious problem.

So we agreed to meet up tomorrow with Steven and Xingyu for a serious meeting. All shall wait till tomorrow to discuss and came up with a plan to tackle the problem arised.

Its GOOD FRIDAY. But not so good friday for us. Today was mark of our last visit to my Wai Gong's tomb stone at Lim Chu Kang.

We were meeting at 8am at Boon Lay Interchange for Bus 405. It was long wait and long queue. By the time we reached the destination after some walk, it was already come to 9am. The sun was blazing and hot. We layed all the offerings, burnt all the candles and joysticks. While waiting for my uncle and aunts back from the paying respect to their neighbour who passed away after a parascute jump that went wrong, we started to burnt our offerings and next was feast time. We
also took some shots of Wai Gong's tombstone. From June onwards, we will be placing Wai Gong next to Wai Po at the temple.

Next year during Qing Ming Festival, we will only need to meet at one place to pay our respect. Our next destination will be Tanah Merah to pay respect for my Wai Po. We waited for Bus 405 till almost an hour before we finally got to Boon Lay where my Aunt stays. My uncle retrieved his car and off we go to his house to pick up offerings and proceeded to our next destination, Temple at Tanah Merah.

After all the praying, it was already 11am plus coming to 12pm. We then went back to my Uncle house for lunch after which we went for some shopping and I met up with my friend at Somerset @ 313 at 5.30pm for some serious discussion.

As I felt very sticky, I went home for a bath and retrieve somethings before I finally met my friends at 6.30pm. We settled down at Burger King at OrchardCentral and had our serious meeting till 8pm plus. Wow we took so long for the serious meeting. Oh my gosh.

End up I reached home at 10pm plus and had my early supper. Good nite everyone. Today will have sweet dreams.

March 2010 Updates (2)

Nothing special happened today. Just that I heard from Mary's 60min programme on the Love Letter in the Drawer. It reminds me of my grandmother who left us 65 days ago. I did not know that I will ever shed tears after so many days.

Imagine her so near but so far now from me. Once so close, now we are of two different worlds. I thought I am already back to normal but upon hearing one of my friend's love letter to her Wai Po. The memories came into my head. I was sitting outside Sengkang MRT that waiting area, just in front of the entrance to MRT/LRT.

I cannot help but tears rolled down on my cheeks. Till Mary Jie completely read out the whole love letter, my tears can no longer stopped. Hence I tweet the following: 65th days Waipo living in heaven. How have you been? I miss you. 4:33 PM Mar 25th via gladlyCast SMS

As I was outside at the public places, I cannot cry out loud. I kept wipped away tears. Somehow, inside my heart I am crying also. I had to leave the place. Maybe by moving away, I can stop tears.

Hence I took MRT to meet my usual gang at HarbourFront, Evonne jie, Andrew Papa, Summer and Peiqi Lao Gong. We were going to have some bite at foodcourt located at B1 of Vivo City. Guess where we are going next? Well, PQ lao gong won the tix for the soft launch of Ice Kacang Puppy Love. We can get to see Ah Niu, the director and also the main lead of the movie. We also get to see Jiahui Jie.

There is also question and answer where the poster will be given out. There is also game where three viewers get to go up stage and sing Dui Mian De Nv Hai Kan Guo Lai. We sabotage Summer up on stage. So funny. In the end, she won the poster.

By the time I reached home, it was already 12am plus. Supper time and bed time. Good nitey.

Today is my FAMILY DAY. Will be shopping with my dearest mummy.

As I received news that Jiahui will be hosting one event at AMK Hub NTUC Fairprice. Hence I tell my mum that I want to go AMK Hub walk about. So we went there walk about and bought some groceries till I finally heard Jiahui Jie's voice. She was there hosting for Doctor Clean soap. Chen Zhi Cai will appear also.

When you buy one bottle, you are entitled for one time wheel spin. Special prize is the rice cooker or pot sets. I wasn't lucky enough, I won a scrub instead. After that, we went for a bite before we continue walking around AMK Central than headed home for rest.

Dragging my tired feet and painful back, I rushed down for my 2nd make up lesson at Music Clinic.

To my suprised, it was Jarod's class. Peter lao shi is in the class when I reached. We do some warm up exercise and then Peter lao shi test on our pitching and ask us guess what is the pitch that he played.

So sad, I got none correct. Hence I need to buck up. Then we learnt how to sing Dong Jie +3. It was fun and will be practicing on Dong Jie tomorrow. As I will be going KTV with the usual gang. Looks like we are meeting very often these days.

To mark the last day of March, we are going for some stream out. Our date for KTV will be today at Cineleisure Kbox Level 8.

I went down to meet Steven Didi and Andrew Papa, where after that Evonne Jie will joined us followed by Summer. We are having our dinner before we went to SING OUR HEARTS OUT.

When we reached, we were assigned to Room 71. It was not a big room I would say but was enough for five people. Initially I did not plan to sing, but they force me to. So I had to sing a song or two.

Now in my head are all the songs we sang. Like Rannie-Ni Ming De Peng You, JJLin-Di Ji Ge 100 Tian and Bei Dui Bei Yong Bao, and many more.

When I sang Dong Jie, it was not up to standard. Well, I guess I really need intensive training. Before we end the KTV, we started to sing NOBODY-Wonder Girls. As the price for per pax is $8, hence the KTV room were all being booked. We are not allowed to extend. So we left the place and by the time I reached home, it was already 12am plus. :D

We walked from Somerset to Orchard and than take train back to our home.

(This marks end of March and as you can see, I have a fruitful and great March 2010. Hoping April 2010 will be also fruitful and great. Stay tune to my updates. :D)
